Building Relationships that Count.
Steven j. Drenth, cpa

“It is of paramount importance to listen to clients and understand exactly what they need. I will always work tirelessly toward the goal of getting the job done economically and ethically.”

Steve joined Melton & Melton in 1984 as a staff accountant. He spent the next 11 years working his way up, serving as supervisor, then manager, then senior manager. In 1995 he was made a partner in the audit department. He generally performs audits, reviews, or compilations in the construction, auto dealership, oil field services and manufacturing industries. He is also in charge of all recruiting and hiring for the firm’s audit department.

Steve is a dedicated accountant; he works consistently for the betterment of his family, workplace, and clients. He would ascribe his success to a combination of hard work, ethical behavior, and strong client relationships. Steve was inspired to pursue a career in accounting by his uncle, who was also a partner for an accounting firm.

Steve often speaks at university recruiting events, promoting the benefits of working for a large local firm. One of his proudest career accomplishments is having spent an entire weekend with a client developing a plan for keeping the client’s business from going out of business—he is proud to say that they were able to keep the doors open and the company is operating vibrantly to this day.

Steve grew up in northern Michigan but currently resides in Katy with his wife of 29 years, Terri. They have a son, Tyler, who recently graduated from the University of Houston. Steve enjoys Katy for its large variety of restaurants. He generally spends his free time hunting, fishing, or golfing.
